Day 1

Your first day in the breathtaking Swiss countryside starts with your seamless transfer from Montreux to nearby beautiful Chateau d’Oex, where you’ll experience your first bona fide taste of all the country has to offer, as well as a delicious lunch in town.

Chateau d’Oex is a location steeped in a rich and intriguing history. For instance, the world-renowned balloonists Bertrand Piccard and Brian Jones made their way all the way around the world in a hot air balloon in the year 1999, starting and finishing in this gorgeous town. The city is also host to the International Hot Air Balloon Festival each and every year.

After lunch, you start exploring the nearby countryside in earnest from the back of your bikes. You eventually arrive in Gstaad, the location of the world famous ski resort, and make your way to the Alpina Gstaad where you’ll be spending the night.

Explore the nearby historic chalets on foot, enjoy some fabulous shopping experiences, or enjoy one of the incredible beauty treatments available at the hotel’s amazing spa before returning for an authentic Swiss dinner at the hotel’s restaurant.

Today’s Ride: 15 miles with 1,800 feet of climbing

Day 2

The following morning begins with a deliciously, decadent buffet breakfast enjoyed while admiring the nearby Alps and surrounding countryside. Just after, you climb aboard your bikes and go riding in between the mountains themselves to experience an absolutely breathtaking location first hand.

In les Diablerets – the location that once saw the inauguration of the first ski lift, choose from one of the many quaint restaurants for lunch on your own.

After lunch, you mount your bikes once again and begin a ride to Le Col du Pillon, a mountain pass that winds its way through a landscape located at 1,546 meters above sea level, just above the majestic Glacier des Diablerets, keep your camera close at hand to capture the glacier views at 3,000 meters above sea level.

Just after, coast downhill with the crisp mountain air in your face as you descend toward Villard sur Ollon and your hotel for the next two nights.

In the evening, relax and enjoy the pool for a moment, before dinner at the hotel restaurant.

Today’s Ride: 24 miles with 3,700 feet of climbing
Short Option: 14 miles with 1,700 feet of climbing
Long Option: 38 miles with 5,500 feet of climbing

Day 3

Today begins in luxury with a light, but completely flavorful breakfast courtesy of the hotel’s gourmet kitchen. Just afterward, we switch gears a little bit when we swap our standard road bikes for mountain bikes so that we can enjoy a ride through the Swiss countryside at its absolute finest. Think of all the images that come to mind with the word Switzerland. Now, prepare to experience them up close and in living color, as you go on an invigorating journey through a wide variety of different local terrains including woodland trails and long expanses of Alpine meadows, before you stop halfway through your day to refresh yourselves with a lunch on your own.

After lunch, you continue your day-long exploration of the Swiss countryside in all its rustic glory. Keep your camera at the ready to capture once-in-a-lifetime moments and scenes that include astounding views, lowing cows complete with bells, even more meadows speckled with colorful Alpine wildflowers, and many a majestic chalet scattered across the rolling terrain.

At the end of your ride, arrive back at your hotel to unwind before enjoying yet another delicious dinner!

Today’s Ride: 10 miles with 900 feet of climbing
Short Option: 6 miles with 800 feet of climbing
Long Option: 12 miles with 1,100 feet of climbing

Day 4

This morning you embark on a transfer from your hotel to the town of Thun, located snugly in the midst of the German-speaking portion of the country where you first began your trip. Once in Thun, you begin biking your way toward Grindelwad. Grindelwad is known the world over for its picturesque scenes of idyllic Swiss life in the country.

You coast through winding, fairytale-like roads through lush valleys that showcase the area at its most beautiful. Capture snapshots of gentle dairy cows, cheery wooden chalets, and bright splashes of color at the hands of geranium-filled window boxes.

The afternoon leg of your adventure finds you biking your way toward your lodgings for the night at the Hotel Schweizerhof. Once there, take a moment to relax and unwind at the hotel spa with a steam bath or massage. Then join your companions for a demonstration from an educational and fascinatingly authentic Swiss alphorn player.

Later you are free to have dinner on your own at one of Grindelwald restaurants.

Today’s Ride: 28 miles with 4,200 feet of climbing
Short Option: 15 miles with 2,500 feet of climbing

Day 5

Your final day in this enchanting country of Switzerland will begin with a light breakfast just before heading out by bike to explore an eclectic mix of still more winding country roads. A variety of terrains are covered – everything from hard-packed and much-traveled bike trails to rustic and lovely wooded foot trails.

You also get a chance to enjoy yet another captivating look at everything the Swiss countryside has to offer from emerald green pastures, delightfully punctuated by authentic farmhouses and charming Swiss chalets.

Your journey finds you entering the magical Lauterbrunnen Valley. This is an area filled with a generous number of cool, clear, and utterly picturesque glacier-fed waterfalls, more than you could even count, that thunder their way down to nearby Eiger, Monch, and the Jungfrau Mountains. These include the majestic Trummelbach Falls, located deep within a craggy canyon, which you are able to observe up close and in person before an energizing descent through the mountain by stairs that pass ten more incredibly powerful waterfalls.

Finally, you make your way back to the hotel to enjoy one last dinner in this rustic paradise together.

Today’s Ride: 22 miles with 2,800 feet of climbing
Short Option: 11 miles with 1,100 feet of climbing
Long Option: 29 miles with 4,000 feet of climbing

Day 6

Enjoy breakfast at the Romantik Hotel Schweizerhof one last time before meeting up with your trip leaders. From here, a short drive to the Interlaken train station marks the end of the tour and of this unforgettable trip through Switzerland.

We loved the exceptional service we received. You had our best interest at heart. We didn’t want for anything. In fact, we weren’t used to such great service. When it rained in Grindelwald, you did your best to come up with a solution, which we did enjoy.
