Itinerary

Day 1Meet your trip leaders in Montreux

Your Switzerland bike tour begins in Montreux, a resort town on Lake Geneva. Meet your trip leaders and transfer to Château-d’Œx, famous for its hot air ballon festival in the winter. Join your leaders for a light lunch and introduction to the week. Then, for your first ride, head out toward the famous ski resort of Gstaad. Arrive at the Hotel Alpina Gtsaad, your home for the next two nights. Later that afternoon, stroll through the town and discover its characteristic chalets and luxurious stores before dinner at the hotel restaurant.

Day 2Ride the Col du Pillon on your way to Les Diablerets

This morning, enjoy a nice breakfast before a challenging ride. Get on your bike and head toward Les Diablerets, a famous ski resort in the canton de Vaud. Climb to the top of the Col du Pillon, on a 3 mile ride with an average grade of 5%. On your arrival, at 5’072 feet, enjoy the views of the Glacier 3’000 just above you. Take a break in Les Diablerets for lunch on your own. In the afternoon, start with another good climb before a thrilling descent to Villars-sur-Ollon and the Chalet Royalp, your hotel for the next two nights. For dinner, try some local delicacies at your hotel restaurant.

Day 3Try mountain biking

On your third day, your cycle tour in Switzerland is going to feel a little bit different. Swap your road bike for a mountain bike for a spin through the countryside. Ride through woodland trails and alpine meadows with colourful wildflowers. Pass by lowing cows with bells, a Swiss “symbol”. Around midday, take a lunch break at a chalet with lovely window boxes of geraniums. Then, keep cycling toward your hotel for a few more miles. In the afternoon, unwind in the hotel swimming pool before another delicious dinner.

Today’s Ride: 10 miles with 900 feet of climbing
Short Option: 6 miles with 800 feet of climbing
Long Option: 12 miles with 1,100 feet of climbing

Day 4Explore Interlaken and Grindelwald

Ride through winding, fairytale like roads through a spectacular valley. Stop in the town of Interlaken to take a stroll and do a little shopping. Then, keep cycling uphill and arrive at the Romantic Hotel Schweizerhof, just a short walk from the center of Grindelwald. In town, admire the the Eiger and the Junfrau, one of the highest summit in Switzerland (13,642 ft).

Today’s Ride: 28 miles with 4,200 feet of climbing
Short Option: 15 miles with 2,500 feet of climbing

Day 5Discover the Trümmelbach Falls

On your last day, biking in Switzerland continues through a variety of terrains. Cap off your trip in the Lauterbrunnen Valley, an area with glacier-fed waterfalls. Ride on hard-packed and much-traveled bike trails and smaller bike paths. Enjoy emerald green pastures and authentic Swiss chalets. In Lauterbrunnen, take a walk to the Trümmelbach Falls, a series of ten glacier-fed waterfalls inside the mountain. After lunch, spin back to Grindelwald for a relaxing evening. For dinner, celebrate with some alpine delights.

Today’s Ride: 22 miles with 2,800 feet of climbing

We loved the exceptional service we received. You had our best interest at heart. We didn’t want for anything. In fact, we weren’t used to such great service. When it rained in Grindelwald, you did your best to come up with a solution, which we did enjoy.
