Day 1

Bienvenue in the Loire valley a region known as the “Playground of Kings“. Start your journey at the chateau de Villandry where you have lunch at the chateau restaurant.

Then, while your trip leaders get the bikes ready we give you time for a visit of the chateau gardens. This 16th century treasure was bought in the early 1900s by Joachim de Carvallo who restored the gardens to their original Renaissance grandeur. Today, his grandson takes care of the domain. It includes a water garden, an ornamental flower garden and some vegetable gardens.

Following the visit you start the week with a pleasant ride through the countryside until you arrive at the chateau de Rochecotte an immaculate 18th century chateau also your hotel where a number of well known figure such as Balzac or Talleyrand stayed.

In the evening, enjoy your first dinner of the week.

Leaving your hotel you bike along the Indre River to arrive in Azay Le Rideau, a jewel of Renaissance architecture for a visit. The castle is famous for the fact that its base is right in the Indre river. That is why Balzac called it “a diamond cut in facets” and “framed” by the river.

Take a break in the town of Azay-le-Rideau.

You are back on your saddle and on your way to the Hotel Imago, which host you for the next two nights. You continue riding through the countryside, cycling by the chateau du Rivau, before reaching your hotel.

In the afternoon the kids have a fun time at an adventure Park and our leader is there to help. On the way back to your hotel you get to ride by the beautiful town of Chinon, well-known for its wines. There is a chateau there too, which you can explore. I have given every aspect of our bike trip the highest marks. The best thing about our tour, you have incredibly helpful and supportive trip leaders. We all had a good time. We only had to ride and have fun. We learned a lot about the history of France, and we got answers to all our questions. I highly recommend these men and DIGnGO for future trips.

Thank you for a great experience!
