Your Dolomites cycling tour starts in the city of Bolzano, the capital of South Tyrol. Take a shuttle to a local restaurant for a light lunch and introduction to the week. Then, Ride to Corvara in Badia, the most picturesque hamlet in the Alta Badia region. Settle in your room at the Hotel La Perla, a member of The Leading Hotels of the World. Later, explore the mountain village of Corvara, the final stage of the Maratona dles Dolomites bicycle race. In evening, join the group at one of the hotel restaurants.
Today’s Ride: 12 miles with 900 feet of climbing
Today, start with a transfer (30 minutes) to about 1-mile away from the top of the Sella Pass. Get on your bike and get ready for a spectacular bike ride. After reaching the Passo Sella, you enjoy a thrilling descent before a 4-mile climb. Enjoy amazing views and descent the Passo Pordoi, a famous climb with 30 hairpin turns and an average of 6.9% grade. Around midday, arrive in Arabba for lunch on your own. Then climb to the Passo Campolongo before a nice downhill into Corvara in Badia. Later on, relax in your room or by one of the numerous pool of your 5-star hotel. Before dinner, visit the hotel’s owner personal wine cellars.
Today’s Ride: 20 miles with 2,600 feet of climbing
Short Option: 14 miles with 1,700 feet of climbing
Long Option: 45 miles with 5,900 feet of climbing
Your bike tour through the Italian Alps continues through the Puster Valley or “Green Valley”. Start with a minivan transfer (30 minutes) to your starting location before a 4-mile long climb to the Passo Furcia Furkelpass. However, feel free to jump in the minivan if you prefer. Once at the top, ride downhill all the way to Brunico, the largest town in the Puster valley, just in time for lunch. In the afternoon, cycle toward your luxury hotel, the Quelle-Nature Spa Resort, one of the most sensational wellness & spa facilities in the region. Tonight, eat at your hotel gourmet restaurant.
Today’s Ride: 25 miles with 3,100 feet of climbing
Short Option: 16 miles with 2,100 feet of climbing
Long Option: 30 miles with 4,200 feet of climbing
On your fourth day, start with a transfer (30 minutes) to your starting location. Spin through a valley at the foot of towering mountain peaks on your way to Austria. Take a ride downhill almost all the way to your next destination. Pedal along the Drau river, running from Italy to Slovenia. Take a break in Sillian for lunch before a 20-mile ride into Lienz, a town in Austria at the confluence of the Isel and Drava rivers. In the evening, explore Lienz on foot and enjoy the views on the Grossglockner, Austria’s highest mountain. Tonight, you’re on your own for dinner in town.
Today’s Ride: 30 miles with 500 feet of climbing
Short Option: 12 miles with 200 feet of climbing
On your last day of biking, follow the isle, a unique glacier river. This morning, ride uphill to the town of Matrei, a beautiful town in the heart of the Hohe Tauern National Park. Walk through the town and enjoy the views on the Castle Weißenstein. Once again, don’t hesitate to ask your trip leader for lunch recommendations. In the afternoon, spin back to Lienz on a cycle path with breathtaking scenery all around. For your last evening, gather at the hotel restaurant for a celebration dinner with your newfound friends.
Today’s Ride: 35 miles with 1,300 feet of climbing
Short Option: 18 miles with 1,100 feet of climbing
Long Option: 52 miles with 3,800 feet of climbing
Cycling in the Dolomites ends with a transfer to Venice.
