Welcome to Bolzano and the Dolomites. From Bolzano, you shuttle to a local restaurant located an hour away from the train station. Start your biking journey with a lunch before your leaders fit your bike.
Your first bike ride of the week starts on top of a pass allowing you to enjoy a wonderful downhill toward one of the most picturesque hamlets in the Alta Badia region, the village of Corvara in Badia. Located at 1,568 meters and in the heart of the south Tyrol, Corvara offers great photo op with the Sassongher mountain massif in the background and its intact alpine character.
Once in the village of Corvara, feel free to relax at the hotel beautiful spa (treatments not included).
Tonight’s dinner is served in one of the hotel’s wonderful restaurants.
Today’s Ride: 12 miles with 900 feet of climbing
Today starts with a short transfer before embarking on possibly one of most spectacular bike ride you will ever experience.
Cycle the famous Passo Pordoi, often included in the Giro d’Italia and famous for its 30 hairpin turns and an average of 6.9 percent grade. No worries the climb is followed by an amazing downhill.
After a few more hills, take a break and admire the amazing scenery surrounding you.
The last part of the ride for today offers a few more challenging climbs but ends with a downhill back to your hotel.
In the evening, enjoy a tour and a wine tasting in La Perla’s typical wine cellar before dinner at the hotel.
Today’s Ride: 20 miles with 2,600 feet of climbing
Short Option: 14 miles with 1,700 feet of climbing
Long Option: 45 miles with 5,900 feet of climbing
Following breakfast, leave Corvara in Baddia, heading to the north into the Pusteria Valley. Also known as the “green valley” it is characterized by impressive forests, lakes, and towering mountain peaks.
Later that morning, arrive in Brunico. The town, which is found at the confluence of the rivers Rienza and Aurina, speaks German. There’s plenty to do and see in Brunico, including the Old Town, National Museum of Ethnology, and the Folklore Museum.

Short Option: 16 miles with 2,100 feet of climbing
Long Option: 30 miles with 4,200 feet of climbing
Salutary il giorno! Greet the day with excitement because today you cross the border from Italy to Austria. Cruise along the river and pedal on the Drau bike path, which reaches all the way into Austria.
Stop at a restaurant along the way to sample the local dishes and enjoy the scenery.
In the afternoon, you continue ridding towards your destination, the town of Lienz, located in Austria. Lienz is found at the foot of Grossglockner, the highest mountain in Austria. It houses Bruck Castle. Built in 1252, the castle was the former home of the Gorizia Counts. Today it stands proudly as home to the Museum on Lienz and houses exhibits of famous East Tyrolean artists, including Albin Egger.
The Town Square and Hall are the centerpieces of Lienz and found just outside the great Bruck Castle. The square once held weekly markets and knights tournaments. The Aguntum, or Roman Museum, is nearby. It preserves the Roman settlements, which date back as far as the first century.
Tonight’s dinner is on your own in the city center. After dinner in the old town at a local restaurant, you’ll be ready for some rest. You’ll return to your hotel to recharge for one more enchanting day.
Today’s Ride: 30 miles with 500 feet of climbing
Short Option: 12 miles with 200 feet of climbing
Experience more of the Alpine staidness with Italian joie-de-vivre as you cycle your way through the Isel River Valley before reaching Matrei. The Isel is a unique glacial river. In fact, no other glacier-fed river found in the Alps has the unique characteristics and raw beauty of the Isel. It is the biggest glacier river found in the Alps without any channels or congestion.
Upon reaching your destination, enjoy a delightful lunch on your own at a local restaurant before trekking out into the beauty of Matrei. The town is located in the very heart of the Hohe Tauern National Park, and it’s beaming with beauty and history. Enjoy the views on Weissenstein Castle, which overlooks the entire town. It has been privately owned since 1865.
In the afternoon, cycle through other charming villages, soaking up the brisk mountain air and breathtaking scenery before indulging in dinner at the Grand Hotel Lienz. The hotel’s restaurants are known throughout the region, and world, as pure plated pleasure for food lovers. It’s fine dining at its best with five individually designed restaurants and spacious terraces offering gorgeous views of the Isel. It’s the perfect completion to an enchanting tour.

Short Option: 18 miles with 1,100 feet of climbing
Long Option: 52 miles with 3,800 feet of climbing
Enjoy breakfast at the hotel the Grand Hotel Lienz one last time before meeting up with your trip leaders. From here, a drive to the Venezia Marco Polo Airport marks the end of the tour and of this unforgettable trip through the Dolomites.
