On the first day of your adventure, we pick you up in Prague at the Main train station before transferring to the town of Pelhrimov, also known as “The Gateway to the Highlands”. When you get there, start off the fun with a welcome drink while your trip leaders fit the bikes and go over all of the safety rules.
Hit the road and cycle through the Czech countryside before reaching the Chateau Heralec, a 5 Star hotel home of a great Spa by l’Occitane, for some downtime.
In the evening, dinner is at the hotel’s restaurant Honoria. This lovely historical restaurant has two dining halls and is an experience you’ll continue to dream about for ages.
Today’s Ride: 19 miles with 1,500 feet of climbing
Today, you first bike from Chateau Heralec to Lipnicenad Sázavou, famous for the notable 14th century castle. It has only about 700 people that live in the village, which is located in the Vysocina region. Then, keep cycling thru the countryside and to the town of Zeliv, famous for the Premonstratensian monastery and the Church of the Nativity of our Lady.
In the afternoon, cycle back toward your hotel and make sure to keep your camera at hand as it is a great photo op.
Back at the hotel, the kids go for a visit of a local dairy farm where they learn the process of cheese making. You may join them or enjoy the beautiful english park as well as the relaxing and meditative Spa & wellness center before dinner at the Honoria restaurant.

Short Option: 25 miles with 1,700 feet of climbing
Long Option: 49 miles with 3,800 feet of climbing
This morning you leave the Chateau Heralec and you transfer (3h15 min) to the historic town of Hulboka. It is famous for its old chateau built in the 13th century by Bohemian kings. Leaving the castle, pedal to Holasovice, a typical Czech town, included on the UNESCO world heritage list. Here you can admire the traditional buildings which epitomize the South Bohemian Folk Baroque style.
In the afternoon, you get back in the saddle, while the kids get into the water for a stunning canoe ride. You head toward Czecky Krumlov, a historic town built in the 13th century, also listed as a UNESCO world heritage site. Over 80 percent of the towns buildings are declared cultural monuments. You can stroll through the medieval center, admiring its Baroque and Renaissance dwellings, lovely shops and cafés, as well as hidden squares. From here you can see the Krumlov Hrad, the second-largest castle in the country.
Later that afternoon settle in your room at the Hotel Bellevue a boutique hotel located in the quieter part of town. Tonight, you are on your own for dinner giving you the opportunity to try local delicacies.

Long Option: 43 miles with 3,400 feet of climbing
Today starts with a transfer (2h15 min) before cycling through the heart of the Wachau valley. Take time to admire the picturesque landscape of this valley, which is one of the most popular destinations in Lower Austria. The impressive architectural heritage and agricultural history of the Wachau Valley earned it the right to be included in the UNESCO list of world heritage sites.
In the afternoon, your ride concludes at the Hotel Sanger Blondel, your hotel for the next 2 nights, for a pleasant stay in this picturesque medieval little town.
Dinner is served at a local restaurant.

Short Option: 14 miles with 600 feet of climbing
Long Option: 44 miles with 3,700 feet of climbing
On your last day, enjoy a hearty breakfast at the hotel and then head onto an easy ride to the town of Melk. To get to Melk, you bike on the Donauradweg, the most popular European bike path. You ride along the Danube River on flat land, so you can fully enjoy the picturesque landscape, full of lovely villages and churches. The town hosts one of the most outstanding baroque monuments in Europe: the abbey of Melk. Founded in the 11th century, today’s monastic site shelters impressive frescos and priceless medieval manuscripts.
Your afternoon ride is followed by a wine tasting: Gerhard is your host and guide during this exquisite experience.
Later on, you return to your welcoming hotel in the heart of town before dinner.

Enjoy breakfast at hotel Sanger Blondel one last time before meeting up with your trip leaders. From here, a short drive to the the Vienna Westbahnhof train station marks the end of the tour and of this unforgettable trip through Czech Republic & Austria.
