Itinerary

Day 1

On the first day of your adventure, we pick you up in Prague at the Main train station before transferring to the town of Pelhrimov, also known as “The Gateway to the Highlands”. When you get there, start off the fun with a welcome drink while your trip leaders fit the bikes and go over all of the safety rules.

Hit the road and cycle through the Czech countryside before reaching the Chateau Heralec, a 5 Star hotel home of a great Spa by l’Occitane, for some downtime.

In the evening, dinner is at the hotel’s restaurant Honoria. This lovely historical restaurant has two dining halls and is an experience you’ll continue to dream about for ages.

Today’s Ride: 19 miles with 1,500 feet of climbing

Day 2

Today, you first bike from Chateau Heralec to Lipnicenad Sázavou, famous for the notable 14th century castle. It has only about 700 people that live in the village, which is located in the Vysocina region. Then, keep cycling thru the countryside and to the town of Zeliv, famous for the Premonstratensian monastery and the Church of the Nativity of our Lady.

In the afternoon, cycle back toward your hotel and make sure to keep your camera at hand as it is a great photo op.

Back at the hotel, the kids go for a visit of a local dairy farm where they learn the process of cheese making. You may join them or enjoy the beautiful english park as well as the relaxing and meditative Spa & wellness center before dinner at the Honoria restaurant.

Today’s Ride: 41 miles with 3,100 feet of climbing
Short Option: 25 miles with 1,700 feet of climbing
Long Option: 49 miles with 3,800 feet of climbing

Day 3

This morning you leave the Chateau Heralec and you transfer (3h15 min) to the historic town of Hulboka. It is famous for its old chateau built in the 13th century by Bohemian kings. Leaving the castle, pedal to Holasovice, a typical Czech town, included on the UNESCO world heritage list. Here you can admire the traditional buildings which epitomize the South Bohemian Folk Baroque style.

In the afternoon, you get back in the saddle, while the kids get into the water for a stunning canoe ride. You head toward Czecky Krumlov, a historic town built in the 13th century, also listed as a UNESCO world heritage site. Over 80 percent of the towns buildings are declared cultural monuments. You can stroll through the medieval center, admiring its Baroque and Renaissance dwellings, lovely shops and cafés, as well as hidden squares. From here you can see the Krumlov Hrad, the second-largest castle in the country.

The town hosts one of the most outstanding baroque monuments in Europe: the abbey of Melk. Founded in the 11th century, today’s monastic site shelters impressive frescos and priceless medieval manuscripts.
