Your family cycling vacation in Czech Republic starts in Prague, the capital city of Czech Republic. After meeting your trip leaders, transfer to Pelhřimov, one of the oldest mining towns in Czech republic. Listen to a quick introduction to the week and enjoy a light lunch. Later, get fitted on your bike and start cycling through the countryside. Ride to Chateau Herálec, a five star hotel and 17th century castle in the heart of the Bohemian-Moravian Highlands. Before dinner, settle in your room and enjoy the rest of the day as you like.
Today’s Ride: 19 miles with 1,500 feet of climbing
Start your second day with a hearty breakfast on the terrace of your hotel. Head out toward the town of Želiv, a village in the Pelhřimov District. On the way, take a break in Lipnice nad Sázavou, famous for its14th century castle. Then, keep cycling through the countryside, arriving in Želiv just in time for lunch on your own. Feel free to ask your trip leaders for recommendations. In the afternoon, spin back toward Herálec and your hotel for some downtime. If you prefer, join the kids for a visit of a local dairy farm.
Today’s Ride: 41 miles with 3,100 feet of climbing
Short Option: 25 miles with 1,700 feet of climbing
Long Option: 49 miles with 3,800 feet of climbing
Today, start with a minivan transfer (1h30) to the 13th century Hluboká Castle, a historic chateau very similar to Windsor Castle. Take some time to visit the chateau. Then, pedal toward Holašovice, a UNESCO World Heritage Site famous for its Baroque farms. You’re on your own for lunch in town. Later on, arrive in Český Krumlov, a historic town in south Bohemia. You may decide not to cycle in the afternoon and instead join the kids for a canoe ride on the Vltava River. In the evening, explore the Cesky Krumlov Castle, the second largest castle in Czech Republic before dinner in town.

Your cycling trip in Czech Republic continues as you transfer (2h00) to your next starting location. Arrive in the surroundings of Jaidhof and get on your bike for a wonderful bicycle ride through the Wachau Valley, an Austrian region near the Danube river. Enjoy a nice downhill ride into the town of Senftenberg before a challenging through fields and lush forests. Pass through Krems an der Donau before cycling along the Danube River. Later, end the day at the hotel Sänger Blondel in the town of Dürnstein, famous for its Augustinian monastery and blue tower.

Long Option: 44 miles with 3,700 feet of climbing
Today, enjoy the easiest ride of the week on the Donauradweg or Danube cycle path. Start cycling on the EV6 toward Melk, a city famous for its vast monastery, the 11th century Melk Abbey. Once in town, go for a visit of the abbey before lunch on your own at one of the many restaurants. In the afternoon, spin back on the south bank toward your hotel. In the evening, stop at a winery for a tasting of Gewürztraminer and Riesling. Then, celebrate with a wonderful dinner at a gourmet restaurant.
