Find a Bike & Cruise Tour

Home > Tips and Advice > Find a Bike & Cruise Tour

Bike and cruise is a new trend in the adventure travel industry. Based on your budget you have a variety of choices available. Let me go through the different possibilities with you.

If you are looking for a luxury river cruise bike tour here are your options:

Luxury + active.
Uniworld has partnered with Butterfield and Robinson. They offer 7 nights bike and cruise on the Rhone, Rhine and the Danube. Butterfield and Robinson river cruises start at 7,995 USD. Trek travel has partnered with Scenic. They offer 8 days / 7 nights bike and cruise on the Danube and the Rhin. Prices start at 6,999 USD. Backroads has partnered with Amawaterways. They offer river cruises bike tours on the Seine, Danube, Rhin and Douro. Prices start at 4,998 for 8 days 7 nights.

Luxury + active + intimate
If you want a more intimate and exclusive river cruise bike tour we recommend CroisiEurope. Their bike and barge trips are the best. They are the oldest and largest river cruise company in Europe (the recently celebrated their 50 th anniversary). They are based out of France and have offices around the world (including the United States). They are the only company that has small barges on the French canals (Loire, Burgundy, Rhone, Marne). Those barges only have 10 cabins, for a maximum of 20 guests. They have partnered with an exclusive bike tour company based out Switzerland and they offer exclusive river cruise bike tours for highly discerning clients. Their barges have a hot tub, you have your own private restaurant, a staff to client ratio of 1 to 5. Taking a river cruises bike tour on a small barge offers a lot more flexibility than on a big river cruise boat. Their river barge cruises are available for private booking, you choose, your dates, your group of friends and you are on your way. Prices start at 3,900 USD for 7 days. Luxury + moderately active
If you are just looking for 1 active shore excursion during your 8 day cruise, I recommend Emerald waterways. Their cycling cruises start at 3000 USD and go up to 4000 USD. Their bike and cruise along the Danube features a 4 hour guided bike tour between Durnstein and Melk.

If you want to combine active days with relaxing days I recommend Avalon. Their adventure river cruises start at 2,919 USD and go up to 6,500 USD. On certain days you may choose to take a guided bike tour, on other to do a canoe ride, or to jog, the choice is yours. Their bike and boat tours travel along the Rhone & Danube and Rhine. In the Netherland, they offers 1 day of cycling along the Rhine while on the Danube, you have 4 days of cycling. On average on a 8 day cruise, you have 3 or 4 days of biking.

Casual + active
If you want to bike everyday but don’t have the 4000 + USD for an 7 night cruise and bike tour I recommend A-Rosa. They are a Deutsch river cruise company and have a bicycle package for a flat fee of 695 Euros. This is in addition to the price of their cruise which starts at 1,229 Euros.
E-bikes are available for an additional 160 Euros.

Life is like riding a bicycle. To keep your balance, you must keep moving.
