Itinerary

Day 1: Welcome to Andalusia! Meet your leaders in Malago before cycling through El Torcal on your way to Antequera

From Almogia to Antequera (23 miles)
Bienvenido in Andalusia! Meet your trip leaders at the Malaga city train station. From there transfer to a typical village located just north of Malaga for a light lunch and introduction to the week to come. Then, get fitted on your bike for your first bike ride through the region of Andalusia. Cycle your way through El Torcal, a nature reserve in the Sierra del Torcal mountain range. Later in the afternoon, you arrive at your hotel, the Convento de la Magdalena, located on the outskirts of Antequera, a town famous for the Antequera castle and Antequera dolmens.

Day 2: The day’s ride takes you cycling to the Moorish town of Ronda

From El Chorro to Ronda (36 miles)
Get yourself comfortably seated in our minivan and transfer to El chorro, a popular climbing destination in southern Spain. Once in town, get your cycling gear and equipment in our minivan and start cycling through the Sierra de las Nieves. Have lunch in El Borgo, a white village surrounded by almond and olive groves. Later on, arrive in Ronda. The town of Ronda, was under Moorish influence between the 8th and 11th century and to this day, Moorish architecture is still present. Some of the most famous monuments that the Moorish rulers left are Ronda’s Mondragon Palace, the Casa del Gigante and Ronda’s Arab baths.

Day 3: Loop ride around Ronda

From Ronda to Ronda (32 miles)
Today is a loop ride taking each rider in your group to the village of Zahara de la Sierra. a white village along the flank of a mountain and a few miles away from El Gastor. Before lunch, cycle along the Zahara-El Gastor reservoir, a man-made lake. Later on, meet with a local guide for a visit of Ronda. Discover the Ronda bridge, El tajo canyon and many other sights as your walk through the town.

Day 4: Ride a scenic route and pass pretty villages

From Antequera to Loja (29 miles)
As this is day 4, you might be starting to feel a bit tired. Don’t worry, the day starts with your trip leaders giving you a quick overview of the day’s route and showing you a route map of the different routes available. You may choose to challenge yourself or take it easy. Cycle in the Province of Granada, an area famous for beautiful villages and spectacular olive groves. Before arriving at the Barcello la Bodbadilla, cycle through some nice small villages.

Day 5: Take a self-guided tour of the white village of Iznájar

From Loja to Loja (32 miles)
Cycle to Iznájar, a classic white village of Andalucia for a self-guided tour of the town. This Pueblo Blanco is located on a hill and is surrounded by the reservoir of Iznájar, the largest man-made lake in Andalucia. As you take a self guided walk through the town, look out for a restaurant for lunch on your own. End the day with a nice gourmet dinner at your hotel’s restaurant.

Day 6: End your trip through Southern Spain in Malaga or visit Granada and Seville

End of the trip
This cycling tour in southern Spain is coming to the end. Your trip leaders drive you back to the Malaga train station and from there you may travel to Seville, Granada or any other destination of your choosing. For those of you traveling to the city of Granada, we advise you to visit the Alhambra Palace, a fortified castle. The construction and history of the Alhambra dates back the 9th century but the caste was only completed at the end of the Muslim rule in the 13th century. If you’re travelling to Seville, don’t miss out on one of Seville’s most visited monument, the Seville Cathedral. In the end and after a week of cycling in Andalucia, the best parts of southern Spain won’t have any more secrets for you.

*Please note that the mileage indicated above refers to the basic route, which is the one that 85% of our guests ride. However, we offer multiple daily routes and you may read more about it in the Activity level section below or by clicking the detailed itinerary button above.
