Details of our Piedmont bike tour

Day 1: Welcome to the wine region of Piedmont

Coazzolo to Santo Stefano Belbo (18 miles)
For your first ride of the week, you cycle through Monferrato, a wine area located in the surroundings of Asti and Alessandria. It is a wine region of Piedmont famous for the Monferrato Rosso and Dolcetto d’Asti, some popular red wines. On the way, you ride through a red wine-producing region and a well-preserved medieval town with many wonders waiting to be discovered. End the day with a glass of red wine at the hotel.

Day 2: Explore the Langhe

Santo Stefano Belbo to Santo Stefano Belbo (27 miles)
The Langhe region, located east of the Tanaro river is an historic area of Piedmont. The terrain is covered with rolling hills and on today’s ride you discover an area famous for its wines, cheeses and the white truffles of Alba.

Day 3: Try Barbaresco

Santo Stefano Belbo to Villa Beccaris (31 miles)
Your bike trip in Piedmont continues on through the impressive wine landscapes of the Langhe, passing through the town of Barbaresco. Take a self-guided tour of one of Italy’s most famous travel destinations as you walk through the town. Strong cyclists can choose the long option to extend the ride and enjoy more of the local, hilly scenery.

Day 4: Taste Barolo

Monforte d’Alba to Monforte d’Alba (29 miles)
Breakfast is served overlooking the surrounding hills. Then, meet with your trip leaders for a briefing of the day to come. Yesterday took you to Barbaresco and today takes you to Barolo, another well preserved medieval town. Cycle over small hills, as the Langhe is a hilly area. However, don’t worry our minivan is there for you in case you need support. Later on, meet with a winemaker for a tasting of Barolo wine at a famous Barolo winery. Learn about the history of Barolo wine and taste some of the best Barolo wines. Back on your bike, cycle through the town of La Morra.

Day 5: Go in search of the white truffle with a local resident and his dog

Monforte d’Alba to Fossano (32 miles)
In the surroundings of Alba there are many hills with oak and hazel trees and after a little introduction to the Tuber Magnatum you meet with a local resident for a truffle hunting session.

Day 6: End the trip in Turin

End of the trip
Your trip comes to an end in Turin. Cross the Tanaro river, a tributary of the Italian Po River, known as Tanarus. Don’t want to leave yet, Alba regarded as the white truffle capital of the Langhe and home of the ferrero factory (Nutella) is a beautiful town to visit.

*The mileage refers to the basic cycling route, which is the one that 85% of our guests ride. However, we offer multiple daily bicycling routes. You may read more about those biking routes in the activity level section below or by clicking the detailed itinerary button above.
