Itinerary

Day 1: Cycle along the Burgundy Canal

Bienvenue in France. Meet us in Dijon. For your first ride of the week, transfer to a restaurant in the countryside. From there, cycle through charming villages before reaching the Canal of Burgundy. The Burgundy canal is a river that goes from Migennes to Saint-Jean-de-Losne and barges cruise on it during the summer.

Day 2: Châteauneuf-en-Auxois

Châteauneuf is famous for the Château de Châteauneuf-en-Auxois. Once in town, you may go for a visit of the Château de Châteauneuf.

Day 3: Discover Beaune

Get on your bike and cycle through the Cote d’Or region. Discover the old town of Beaune famous for its historic sites as well as its gastronomy. Some of those sites are the Beffroi and the Halles but if there is one that you shouldn’t miss, it is the Hospices de Beaune. It is a former charitable almshouse with polychrome roofs. In terms of gastronomy our recommendations are Joseph Drouhin and the Mountarderie Fallot. End the day at the Hotel le Cep.

Day 4: Taste Burgundy wine

Discover the Burgundy wine region as you cycle through the vineyards. The ride is done in the Cote de Beaune. It starts between Nuits-Saint-Georges and Beaune and extends 25 km south of Beaune. The area is a mix of Pinot noir and Chardonnay grapes. On the way, cycle through the town of Puligny-Montrachet, famous around the world for its Grand Cru wines. Later that afternoon, head back to Beaune for a wine tasting of red Burgundy wine and white Burgundy wine.

Day 5: Cycle to Gevrey-Chambertin

Discover the Côte-de-Nuits. It is an area located north of Nuit-Saint-Georges. The cycling takes you on the route des Grands Crus to the town of Gevrey-Chambertin. It is a famous wine making village surrounded with vineyards planted exclusively with Pinot Noir. Gevrey-chambertin wine is one of the best in the world with 8 out of 33 Burgundy Grands Cru coming from this small town. Some famous names are Charmes-Chambertin and Mazis-Chambertin.

Day 6: Visit Dijon

The tour ends this morning around lunch time. For those of you that want to stay an extra day or 2 in Burgundy, our recommendation is to go visit Dijon. Located just 30 minutes away, it is a lovely French city famous for its mustard as well as its numerous churches and historical monuments. Some that you shouldn’t miss are the Ducal Palace, St Michel and St Philibert.
