Details of our Normandy family bike tours

Day 1: Start in Dinan and cycle through the countryside

From Dinan to Cancale (21 miles)
Transfer to Dinan, a typical Breton town located along the Rance river. Dinan dates back to the 13th century and is the starting location of the day. Before the ride, your guides give you a briefing. You and your kids learn the heart of glass blowing.

Day 2: Explore the Mont Saint-Michel

From Cancale to Agneaux (31 miles)
For your second day of riding, the Mont Saint-Michel, an island monastery dating back to the 8th century, greets you with amazing views. The construction took 500 years and the Mont St-Michel is now listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Day 3: Ride through the countryside on your way to the Chateau de Balleroy

From Agneaux to Port-en-Bessin-Huppain (41 miles)
Cycle through a cool and shadowy forest on your way to an amazing castle, the Chateau de Balleroy bought in 1970 by Mallcom Forbes. In the afternoon, continue riding through the Normand countryside before arriving at your hotel located close to the D-Day beaches.

Day 4: Bike to Bayeux before the kids go land sailing

From Port-en-Bessin-Huppain to Port-en-Bessin-Huppain (31 miles)
Today, your ride takes you to Bayeux a town renowned for its cathedral dating back to the 10th century. Bayeux was the first French town to be freed after the allied invasion on June 6th 1944. In town discover the impressive 230-foot tapestry that tells the story of the 1066 Norman invasion of England. In the afternoon, kids get ready for a fun time land sailing.

Day 5: Explore the Pointe du Hoc

From Port-en-Bessin-Huppain to Port-en-Bessin-Huppain (22 miles)
Overlooking the D-Day landing beaches, the Pointe du Hoc sits on 100-foot cliffs. It was once a German stronghold and as you walk through the shattered bunkers it turns into a live history lesson for the kids.

Day 6: End the trip in Caen

End of the trip
Your cycling holiday ends at the Caen train station and after 6 days in Normandy the battle of Normandy doesn’t have any more secrets for you. More than 80 % of Caen was destroyed during the invasion. However, if you are planning on extending your vacation, there is what is refereed as the best WWII museum in the world.
