Details of our Dordogne family bike tours


Day 1: Ride through the Perigord Noir

From Mauzac-et-Grand-Castang to Mauzac-et-Grand-Castang (13 miles)
Our leaders introduce themselves and the tour over a light lunch at a former farmhouse. For your first ride of the week, discover where the Perigord noir gets its name from. The route takes you along shaded forests, tobacco filed and lush walnut grooves, typical of the region.

Day 2: Cycle through the Vezere Valley and visit of a prehistoric cave

From Mauzac-et-Grand-Castang to Mauzac-et-Grand-Castang (39 miles)
The Vézère Valley consists of prehistoric sites and decorated caves. Reach into humanity’s distant past as you’re treated to views some Magdalenian engravings and paintings dating back to 14,000 B.C.. Later on, kids visit a village looking like a century ago.

Day 3: Bike along the Dordogne river on your way to Beynac and Cazenac

From Mauzac-et-Grand-Castang to Sarlat-la-Canéda (35 miles)
The bicycle tour takes you along the banks of the Dordogne river and to some of France most beautiful villages. The chateau de Beynac has an amazing location sitting 200 meters above the Dordogne river and is worth a self-guided visit. Sarlat widely known as the capital of Perigord is yours to discover this evening.

Day 4: Adults cycle through the Dordogne region while the kids have fun at an adventure park

From Sarlat to Lacave (37 miles)
The Dordogne region offers many varied landscapes for cyclists to enjoy. While adults cycle through the area, the children have some fun at an adventure Park.

Day 5: Visit of a 13th century windmill before lunch in Rocamadour

From Lacave to Lacave (31 miles)
Your cycling tour takes you to the 13th century windmill of the Moulin de Cougnaguet for you to see the mechanism and learn how it worked. Later, Rocamadour welcomes you for lunch on your own.

Day 6: End the trip in Bergerac

End of the trip
After a week of cycling, the Dordogne valley and the famous Foie Gras don’t have any more secrets for you.
