Itinerary

Day 1: Meet your trip leaders in the city of Goes and go cycling through Zeeland

From Veere to Kruiningen (29 miles)
Welcome to Holland! This cycling tour is like no other. There are many cycling tour companies offering bike tours in Holland but you made the right choice. Start with transfer to the city of Veere for a welcome drink. Then, get fitted on your bike and start cycling out of the town, passing by the city hall, recognisable by its unique bell tower. Continue biking to Kruiningen and the Manoir Inter Scaldes, a Relais & Chateau member and your hotel for the night. In the evening dine at the hotel 3 Michelin start restaurant, a real treat.

Day 2: Take a bike ride on a nice bike path through the countryside

From Kruiningen to Yerseke (36 miles)
Today’s itinerary takes you to Yerseke, a town famous for its mussel trade. See that the region has many bike trails, it is completely safe to ride next to each other on some sections of the bike ride. Please note that most of the cycling is done on bicycle paths. Following a nice bicycle ride through the countryside, end the day in Yerseke where our minivan is waiting to transfer you to the Hotel des Indes, a charming property dating back to 1858 and located in the the center of The Hague.

Day 3: Transfer to the windmills of Kinderdijk before taking a self-guided tour of Gouda

From The Hague to The Hague (32 miles)
This morning, you get to discover Kinderdijk and its famous 18th century windmills that were once used to drain the soil. Take a self-guided tour and go check how windmills work. From there, you bike to Gouda, a town in South Holland famous for the Gouda cheese. As you take a self guided walk through the town, don’t forget to go check out the 15th century Gouda town hall, listed as one of the oldest monuments in The Netherlands.

Day 4: Explore the Keukenhof garden and its tulips

From The Hague to Santpoort (38 miles)
Leave The Hague and cycle to the small town of Lisse, famous for being the tulip capital. Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant follow by a self-guided tour of the Keukenhof. The Keukenhof garden is the largest tulip park in Holland with more than seven million tulips planted on 32 hectares. It is important to note that the gardens of the Keukenhof are only open during the tulip flowering season and for a maximum of 8 weeks. It is usually starting at the end of March until mid May. Following the visit, get back on your bicycle toward your hotel for a relaxing evening.

Day 5: Cycle along the North See on your way to Alkmaar

From Santpoort to Alkmaar (37 miles)
Enjoy a nice breakfast on the terrace of your hotel. On today’s itinerary, you cycle along the North Sea and through the Zuid-Kennemerland national park. As you bike along the coastline of the North Sea, take a few breaks to enjoy the views on the sand dunes. Later on, you arrive in the town of Alkmaar for lunch. Following lunch, take the time to visit the town before heading back to your hotel on the popular bike route that cyclists ride to go from Alkmaar to Amsterdam. Arrive back at your hotel located a few minutes away from Haarlem. Before dinner, you may go in town for a visit the medieval city of Haarlem.

Day 6: End your trip in Amsterdam or at the Schiphol airport

End of the trip
This cycling vacation in the Netherlands comes to an end in the bicycle capital of the world, Amsterdam. For those of you that are staying a few more days in town, you have made the right choice because visiting Amsterdam is something you got to do once in your life. For those of you that need to fly home, your trip leaders drive you to Schiphol airport. Even though Dutch doesn’t have any more secret for you, please make sure to your flight information with you because the Schiphol international airport is a major airport and your leaders need that information.
